Captain
The captain is the highest-ranking officer on the cruise ship, responsible for operation of the vessel, navigation, and the crew. search

Cruise Director
The Cruise Director is responsible for all onboard entertainment. The position involves supervising and scheduling staff within the Entertainment department, as well as administrative duties. The Cruise Director also serves as the Master of Ceremonies for many activities. search

Assistant Cruise Director
The Assistant Cruise Director assists the Cruise Director in all his/her responsibilities: co-ordinate passengers' activities programs, supervise Cruise Staff, etc. He/she is expected to socialize with passengers and participate in onboard activities.search

Purser (Receptionist) 
Responsible for passengers' check-in and checkout in the accommodation area, including settling accounts at the end of the cruise. Pursers also handle passengers' questions, complaints, lost luggage, room changes, currency exchange etc. search

Cruise Staff / Activity Staff
These are entry-level positions within the Entertainment department, suitable for enthusiastic extroverts only. They are expected to socialize with passengers, play games, dance, call bingo numbers, get passengers involved in social and entertainment activities, provide customer service, etc. Performance duties are required as well. Should be a good planner, and a well-organized person, and someone who really loves people! search

Youth Staff
The purpose of the youth staff position is to organize the time of the passengers onboard between the ages of 3-17, through sports, games, activities and more. Youth counselors have to be fun and outgoing, and definitely need experience working with children! search

Stage Manager
The Stage Manager is responsible for all aspects of the main theater and all shows therein. Their duties include scheduling, running shows, and supervising the performers and technicians onboard. A minimum of 5 years of professional theater knowledge is required, and additional show control knowledge is a plus. search

Disc Jockey (DJ)
Good knowledge of various music genres from all decades is required. Microphone skills and experience is required, as well as an outgoing, lively personality! The DJ is also required to handle some cruise staff activities.search

Sound Technician
The sound technicians are typically required to run complete audio, including set up and mixing on a pro sound console in the main theater for all shows and performances. Must have troubleshooting and repair & maintenance skills as well. search

Lighting Technician
This is the lighting controller for all shows on the ships. This person typically needs WholeHog experience, though it is not always required. Must have troubleshooting skills, programming knowledge and repair & maintenance skills as well. search

Broadcast Technician
The broadcast is responsible for the tuning and supervision of all onboard TV satellites. The primary responsibilities include onboard video and television support, and they must have extensive knowledge working with satellite uplinks and downlinks. They should also have knowledge of graphics, editing (AVID preferred), and shooting. search

Rigger
This position is responsible for all rigging done for shows, including: flying, show control, as well as hanging banners, and similar duties. Must have knowledge of motors, encoders, computerized scenery, and hanging lights. You must also possess some lighting rigging experience. search

Stage Staff
Assists backstage in whatever way necessary. Entry-level position, which in many cases paves the way for sound and/or lighting tech positions. Some theater knowledge is required! search

Casino Manager
Responsibilities include accounting and managing staff. Previous experience in the role is required. search

Casino Dealer
 Candidates for this position must have at least 2 years experience of the position with a good knowledge of at least 2 games (blackjack, poker, craps, baccarat or roulette). search

Slot Technician
This position involves the general maintenance and repair of slot machines onboard a cruise ship. Previous experience is required. search

Food and Beverage Manager
 The food and beverage manager is responsible for service quality in all areas of the cruise ship that serve meals and drinks.  Calculation of costs and expenditures is involved as well. Must have working knowledge of safety and health procedures  while in kitchen. search

Maitre d'
The Maitre d' greets customers, supervises restaurant staff and ensures that top quality standards of service are met. search

Executive Chef
 The executive chef is responsible for the overall operation of the kitchen area including administration. Oversees the  preparation of meals and performs quality control of all food that leaves the kitchen. search

Pastry Chef
The pastry chef prepares pastries and desserts. Previous experience as a pastry chef is required. search

Chef de Partie
 The chef de partie prepares gourmet cuisine and sauces, manages food displays for buffets and in the restaurants. search

Sous Chef
The sous chef is in charge of maintaining food quality. Responsibilities include food preparation and cooking, in close co-operation with the executive chef. search

First Cook
 Responsible for supervising second and third cooks. Performs duties assigned by chefs.  search

Second / Third Cook
Duties involve food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the designated chef or cook. search

Butcher
 Cuts, trims and grinds meat. Shapes and ties roasts. May receive, inspect and store meat upon delivery. search

Dishwasher
Responsibilities include dish washing and stacking washed dishes. search

Busboy
Assists waiters and waitress in serving meals, clearing tables and delivering meals and drinks. search

Dining Room Manager
Responsibilities include supervising the dining room wait staff and overall operation of the dining room. search

Dining Room Wait Staff
 Responsible for serving a section of the dining room with about 30 guests.  search

Buffet Server
Buffet server assists in setting and replenishing buffets and clearing tables. search

Bar Manager
 Dive Instructors guide passengers on diving excursions and provide diving instructions in the onboard swimming pool. All  diving instructors are required to hold NAUI, SSI or PADI certificates, as well as CPR and First Aid certificate. search

Bartender
Bartenders must be good at mixing ingredients for alcoholic drinks, e.g. cocktails. Other duties include managing bar staff, stocking, and the cleanliness of the bar area. Many passengers like chatting to bartenders, so they need to be extroverts and enjoy socializing. Previous experience is a must! search

Housekeepers
 Housekeepers are responsible for keeping passengers' cabins clean and tidy. Duties include vacuuming, changing sheets,  washing windows, cleaning bathrooms etc. search

Gift Shop Manager
The gift shop manager supervises the gift shop and its staff and ensures good service and quality. Responsibilities include shop accounting, stock supplies and product displays. search

Information Technology (IT) Manager
 All transactions made on the ships are electronic, and the IT manager is responsible for making sure that everything runs  smoothly, and fixing it if there is a problem. Requirements include extensive computer knowledge, as well as knowledge of  computer networks, systems, etc. search

Internet Cafe Manager
Almost all cruise ships have Internet Cafés now, and the responsibilities of this position include running and managing it effectively. Duties also include troubleshooting and passenger assistance. search

Spa Manager
 This position is required to run and manage the entire spa. Previous experience is a must, and sales experience is a plus! search

Spa Attendant
Spa attendants assist passengers during spa treatments, as well as take bookings. They must have a good knowledge of hydrotherapy, relaxation and detoxification techniques. search

Massage Therapist
 Massage therapists must be able to provide passengers with a various choice of techniques. Must be licensed and  experienced in the area. search

Fitness Instructor
Apart from workout classes, most cruise lines offer the passengers’ instruction in yoga, aerobics and dance. The fitness instructor leads a group of clients and gives advice on exercising, health and diet. search

Dive Instructor
Dive Instructors guide passengers on diving excursions and provide diving instructions in the onboard swimming pool. All  diving instructors are required to hold NAUI, SSI or PADI certificates, as well as CPR and First Aid certificate. search

Nurses
Nurses are on call 24 hours a day. They perform routine and emergency care to passengers and crewmembers daily. search

Doctor
 The doctor is also on call at all times. They perform emergency and routine surgical procedures to passengers and  crewmembers as necessary. Previous experience is a must! search

Marine Department
Marine employees oversee the navigation, safety, and maintenance of the ships. They also provide security for employees and guests, and are responsible for the ship’s communication system. search

Engineering Employees
 Engineering employees help keep the ship running smoothly. They work with the ship’s mechanical equipment, including  the engine room. Positions include engineers, electricians, motormen, plumbers, turners, fitters, and firemen. search

Staff/Deck Employees
Staff/Deck employees contribute to the comfort and safety of all on board. They are dedicated to navigating the ship and maintaining its exterior and interior appearance. Positions are available in safety and security, radio communication, and navigation. There are also jobs in building and maintenance, including carpenters, painters, and upholsterers. search
